Beyond Beginner ‘Ukulele: Strum Patterns

$205.00

Beyond Beginner ‘Ukulele is an advanced beginner ‘ukulele class series for players with basic skills looking to take it to the next level.

Description

Have you made a New Year’s Resolution to bring more music into your life?

I 100% support this decision! It’s fairly easy for some folks to pick up the ‘ukulele and get themselves started. However, at some point, everyone needs a bit more guidance, perhaps some accountability, and the fun and support of a community to get them to the next level of their playing. That’s exactly what this class is designed to do!

Class Description

Beyond Beginner ‘Ukulele (BBU) is an advanced beginner ukulele class series for players with basic skills looking to take it to the next level. We’ll use popular and accessible songs to build up our repertoire of chords, keys, strum patterns and ear-based musicality skills! Participants will receive a weekly recap email and links to practice videos to support their weekly practice between classes.

I like to teach this series of classes in three rotating terms:

  • THIS TERM ~ Winter: Strum Patterns. This iteration of BBU focuses on developing a strong sense of rhythm and understanding the basics of good strumming habit. Over the course of our weeks together, we also explore the nuances that give each strum pattern its particular feel.
  • Spring: Chord Families. This BBU class focuses on building a strong repertoire of chords, so we can get past the Key of C. We’ll use the 12-Bar Blues and other blues forms to learn commonly used chords in the Key of C, D, G, and A.
  • Fall: Ear Training & Musicality Skills. As we continue to put our technical skills to work strumming and chording, we’ll open our ears to make sure we understand what we’re hearing in the music we make, so we can learn by ear more efficiently and be able to focus more on the joy of making music with others.

I recommend Beyond Beginner ‘Ukulele: Strum Patterns for players who are comfortable with:

  • playing songs with the chords C, F, G(7), Am, and maybe more
  • a basic strum pattern or two
  • taking risks to learn new techniques and material

How Much and How Do I Pay?

Cost for this class is $205. Class fees cover both quality, prepared instruction and follow up materials (class recaps, practice videos, relevant links, etc) via email. If you need to miss class one week, you will still receive the class recap and tutorials and practice videos for everything, so you can fill in the gaps on your own. Alternatively, you’re welcome to attend the same class with a different cohort for that week.

Save $5 by paying with Venmo, cash or check! Third-party fees add up quickly for a one-person business like mine. If you’d prefer your entire payment apply to my time and effort preparing and teaching it, select “Pay with Cash / Check”, complete registration, and then either:

  • bring your payment of $200 to our first class (check made out to “Avery Hill”), or
  • send your $200 via Venmo to @averyhillstudio (#5922)

This price point is too steep for me right now! If you need a more accessible price point, please use the coupon code ACCESS for an automatic 25% off your order, no questions asked. If you need further assistance, please reach out to me directly and we will make it happen!
